Tenerife: Eight tourists reported for dangerous driving in Teide National Park
- Passengers sat on the window frames, upper bodies outside the vehicles.
- Each driver received a fine of 500 euros and six points deduction.
The Guardia Civil has reported eight foreign tourists for dangerous driving and traffic safety violations in Teide National Park.
The starting point was a video circulated in the media that showed two rental cars on the TF-24, whose occupants were sitting on the window frames with their upper bodies outside the vehicles – without seat belts and without correct seating position.
The Guardia Civil's traffic unit (UNIS-GIAT) then launched an investigation. With the assistance of officers from Granadilla de Abona and the Tenerife South Airport Unit, the vehicles, drivers, and passengers were identified. Those involved were about to return home.
The drivers were cited for dangerous driving, and the other passengers for failing to use safety equipment. Since they were non-residents, they had to pay the penalties immediately: two fines of €500 each plus six points, and six fines of €200 each.
The Guardia Civil pointed out that such behavior poses a significant risk to road safety.

Fuerteventura: Teenager arrested after two serious attacks on women in hotels
Victims suffered serious injuries in their hotel rooms in Costa Calma.
The suspect is in the Tabares Youth Center (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
On July 18, 2025, the Fuerteventura Civil Guard arrested a minor suspected of two serious assaults on women in Costa Calma (municipality of Pájara) as part of Operation Praktiker.
The first incident occurred on June 23, 2025: A woman was assaulted in her hotel room in southern Fuerteventura. She suffered severe injuries to her head, hands, and arms and had to be taken to the hospital. The case attracted considerable public attention after the victim described her experience on social media.
During their investigation, officers discovered a similar incident on December 16, 2024, in which a woman was also attacked in a hotel room in Costa Calma. A comparison of video footage revealed that the same perpetrator was involved in both cases.
During the investigation, surveillance videos were analyzed and witnesses – including hotel staff, guests, and residents – were interviewed. The investigation ultimately focused on a minor who matched the perpetrator's description.
On July 18, a search of the house was carried out with judicial authorization. During the search, officers seized items of clothing allegedly worn during both attacks, as well as other items possibly connected to the attacks. Mobile phones were also confiscated in order to fully investigate the crimes.
The teenager was arrested and transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office for Juvenile Justice in Las Palmas. The court ordered his detention at the Tabares Youth Center, where he remains under court orders.

Canary Islands: Three tons of cocaine on the high seas – Guardia Civil stops freighter “Sky White”
- Five crew members arrested – four from Bangladesh, one from Venezuela.
- International cooperation between Spain, France, Morocco, Portugal, USA and Great Britain.
The Guardia Civil and the customs investigation service of the Spanish tax authority stopped a tugboat named Sky White west of the Canary Islands, which was transporting around 3,000 kilograms of cocaine in 80 bales.
The investigation into the ship had been ongoing since the summer of 2024. At that time, there were suspicions that it was regularly used for large-scale drug transports across the Atlantic. According to the French customs investigation service (DNRED) and the Moroccan authorities, the ship repeatedly called at the port of Dakhla to evade European controls and returned to Europe from there with large quantities of cocaine.
In Spain, the Sky White was also considered a “mother ship,” transferring drug cargoes on the high seas to smaller boats, which then took them towards the Canary Islands or the Iberian Peninsula.
The operation was made possible through international cooperation: in addition to the Spanish authorities, the British NCA, the US DEA and the Portuguese Polícia Judiciária were involved, coordinated through the CITCO and MAOC-N centers.
With the support of the Spanish Navy, the attack was successful in international waters west of the Canary Islands. Special units of the Guardia Civil boarded the 22-meter-long tugboat and seized the 3,000 kilos of cocaine. The vessel was in a dilapidated technical condition and already posed a risk to its crew.
The five men on board – four from Bangladesh, one from Venezuela – were arrested for drug trafficking and taken to Tenerife, where the drugs were unloaded.
Background: The "Atlantic Route" is considered one of the main routes for cocaine smuggling from South America and the Caribbean to Europe. In addition to freighters, sailboats, fishing boats, or speedboats are often used to transfer cargoes in the middle of the Atlantic.
The Guardia Civil emphasized that the success of this operation was based on close international cooperation – particularly with France, Portugal, Great Britain, the USA and Morocco.
